Kylie VanDerMolen | Co-Chair

Kylie VanDerMolen is a PhD Candidate in the Curriculum of Genetics and Molecular Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill. She studies the genetic mechanisms of metabolic regulation in the lab of Dr. Rob Dowen. She is passionate about scientific communication and has enjoyed the many opportunities to pursue this interest throughout graduate school, including as an annual NC DNA Day mentor to NC high school science classrooms, a presenter at the annual UNC Science Expo at the Morehead Planetarium for the local community, and as a college prep and lab workshop mentor for high school students through the UNC WinSPIRE program. She also attended the ComSciCon-Triangle Workshop in 2023 for scientific communication and helped organize the 2024 TIBBS Career Blitz Workshop. Kylie is interested in a career centered around scientific communication in the medical and scientific affairs field and is looking forward to serving as a leader for MedRAC to provide resources for trainees looking to learn more and connect with professionals in the field.

Morgan McCullough | Co-Chair

Administration, Media Outreach, Programming and Inviting Board

Morgan McCullough is a PhD candidate in Microbiology & Immunology. She studies in the lab of Dr. Jason Mock, where her research addresses the heterogeneity of the regulatory T cell response in acute lung injury. She has a strong interest in immunology and is fascinated by the lung as an interface between people and the external environment. In her time as a student, she has presented work at several national meetings and has been awarded a fellowship from the American Association of Immunologists. She also serves on the board of her department’s Peer Mentor Network, which facilitates the development of a supportive trainee community within the department. Here, she has implemented career development initiatives. Morgan is excited to serve in a leadership role at MedRAC and is very interested in learning about all the career paths in medical and regulatory affairs.

Joe Krzeski | Co-Chair

Managing Editor of the Pipeline Blog

Joe Krzeski is a PhD candidate in the Curriculum of Neuroscience at UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine. His research focuses on rare neurodevelopmental disorders, with the goal of informing gene therapies that can advance treatment of patients. Joe has a strong interest in drug development and is fascinated by all of its stages – from discovery to commercialization. During his time at UNC, Joe has presented at several international conferences, has published multiple first-author papers, and has received the NIH F31 grant. Joe manages the Pipeline Blog as part of MedRAC’s leadership team, which is a space where trainees may gain experience in medical writing and editing.
